Hair Transplant in Dubai & UAE

Hair loss affects up to 85% of men and 40% of women. Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) and other hair transplants are minimally invasive surgeries that help cover bald spots caused by hair loss.

Hair transplants have been around in Japan since at least 1939.

Initially, the results mostly looked unnatural and gave the appearance of a hoof. It wasn't until surgeons began transplanting individual hair follicles (also called follicular units) in 1995 that hair transplants began to produce natural-looking results.

Two predominant types of hair transplant are currently used:

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)
Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT)
In FUT surgery, the surgeon cuts a strip of skin from the back or side of the head and extracts hair follicles. These hair follicles are then placed in the balding parts of the scalp. Surgery works best to cover the hair loss caused by male pattern baldness.

Read on to find out what to expect in Hair Transplant in Dubai operations, who are the best candidates and how FUT differs from FUE.

How Follicular Unit Transplantation Works
During FUT, the surgeon cuts a strip of skin from the scalp, usually at the back of the head. The exact size of the strip depends on the number of hair follicles needed to cover the bald spot. The strip is usually no wider than 1–1.5 cm (0.4–0.6 in).Once individual hair follicles have been removed from the strip, they are reinserted into the scalp.

hair transplants take 4 to 8 hours. FUT operation is usually faster than FUE operation. Most people are awake during the procedure with a local anesthetic numbing the scalp.

This is what your procedure will likely look like:

The surgeon will redraw your hairline, mark the area for hair removal, and take photos for your medical records. You may be able to take a sedative before the surgery. A local anesthetic is applied to the scalp to numb it.
The hair at the donor site from which the hair originates is trimmed to about two millimeters.
The surgeon cuts a strip of skin with a hair follicle to use as a graft. You will not sleep during the operation.
The technician removes individual hair follicles from the strip and prepares them for transplantation.
The surgeon closes the scalp with stitches.
The hair follicles are then placed in the bald areas of the scalp so that they appear natural.
antibiotics and bandages are applied to the scalp.
